MY STORY
La Donna Welter

When mixed-media artist La Donna Welter recalls her childhood, some of her fondest memories are of summers spent in Iowa at her grandfather's farm.

"Grandpa passed away years ago, but I'll never forget the time I spent with him." La Donna says. "My work is really all because of him, and his hand-tinted portrait given to me as a child."

With teaching degrees from the University of Northern Iowa, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater,
La Donna approaches her work the old-fashioned way, creating each one-of-a-kind paper cutting, known as scherenschnitte, by hand.

La Donna Welter is a member of the Guild of American Papercutters, and is currently featured in Country Sampler Magazine.
